Bethany Rose

Legal Programme Manager, Southeast Asia, Australia and the Pacific

Bethany joined the Thomson Reuters Foundation in May 2017. As the Legal Programme Manager for Southeast Asia, Australia and the Pacific, she manages TrustLaw’s network of NGOs, social enterprises, and lawyers in the region. She facilitates pro bono legal assistance for members, and supports strategic legal research programmes on regional and cross-border issues. She has a particular interest in refugees and forced migration.

Prior to joining the Foundation, Bethany worked in Thailand with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees where she conducted eligibility assessments for refugee status. Bethany also has experience in private practice in Australia where she was a lawyer at Clothier Anderson Immigration Lawyers, a leading specialist law firm. In 2014 Bethany, was a Judges’ Associate at the Supreme Court of Victoria. Bethany also has considerable volunteer experience with Victoria Legal Aid, the International Commission for Jurists and community legal centres in Australia.

Bethany holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Melbourne and a Bachelor of Arts (Politics and History) from La Trobe University.
