September 2020: We are excited to share with you the guide “Prison Labor: Its Regulation. Comparative law study”, a collaboration between the Thomson Reuters Foundation – TrustLaw, La Cana and White & Case.

Prison work is usually considered essential for the social reintegration of people deprived of liberty. However, unclear regulations can become a barrier to generate prison work opportunities.

The Thomson Reuters Foundation has always championed workers’ rights. A key priority for the Thomson Reuters Foundation is to raise awareness of human rights issues. Through its global pro bono service, TrustLaw, we produce ground-breaking legal research to drive social change.

We hope that this guide that compares how prison work is regulated in Mexico, Bolivia, Spain, Chile, Colombia, and Costa Rica becomes a valuable tool to promote the creation of a legal framework that guarantees social standards for inmates and improves their working conditions in Mexico and regionally.
