The Thomson Reuters Foundation is a leader in international journalism training and a key provider of media training. It has trained over 7,000 journalists so far, sharing the skills and reporting principles that made Reuters a highly respected and trusted international news agency.

More than 2,000 staff from UN agencies and aid organisations have also attended its media training workshops around the globe.

Hands on

Reuters journalism course are based on pratical training and exercises dsigned to build up participants' skills and confidence in covering news. Accuracy, impartiality, integrity and speed are the hallmarks of Reuters news and are actively promoted in our training.

Needs driven

We monitor issues and events and, when appropriate, develop courses in new areas to meet journalists' needs. Our trainers, current and former Reuters journalists, are well versed in internalional journalism and have a range if skills and experience. They are adept at dealing with diverse groups from many cultural backgrounds and shape each course to meet each group's specific needs. Where useful, local expertise in incorporated into the training sesions.

Offered in various languages including Arabic, English, French, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish, we provide more than 60 courses each year in locations as diverse as Buenos Aires, Brazzaville and Bishkek.

Together with news reporting, we also offer courses on wide variety of topics, including business and finance, elections, health, sports, environment, disaster coverage and humanitarian news.

Forward looking

We take advantage of the latest technologies to improve our courses, exploring how multimedia can speed up news gathering and help journalists get their stories to the world. Registered alumni have access to our online networking facilities, discussion forums and copy clinics, where those who have attended courses can receive further guidance. Our online services include distance learning and pre and post-course modules to enhance the face-to-face training of the workshops.
