TrustLaw is Thomson Reuters Foundation’s global pro bono service which connects high impact non-profits and social enterprises to top law firms and corporate legal teams around the world to provide them with free legal support. TrustLaw is the largest global pro bono network with over 5000 members across different countries in the world. We work with hundreds of legal teams who volunteer their time, expertise and skills to assist socially oriented organizations in achieving their mission. We also undertake research programmes that are powerful advocacy tools that enable organizations to achieve groundbreaking legal reforms and improve the rule of law.
TrustLaw developed a Legal Health Check Tool to help non-profit organisations and social enterprises understand and prioritise their legal needs, allowing staff to devote more time to fulfilling the organisation’s social mission. The checklist covers a range of legal topics including corporate structuring and governance advice, commercial contracts, how to protect intellectual property, data protection requirements, finance and fundraising regulations.
As a part of the workshop at Rise Summit 2019, Trishna Mohan Kripalani, Legal Programme Manager, TrustLaw, South Asia will guide organisations through the Legal Health Check, giving practical examples of some of the main legal issues organisations should be considering to ensure they are adequately protected.
