IMPOWR Database on Women's Rights Laws.

Through a special arrangement with the American Bar Association, TrustLaw Women is delighted to offer unique search access to the ABA's International Models Project on Women's Rights (IMPOWR) Research Database, which is being developed as a comprehensive information resource on women's rights under law around the world.

It is fully searchable, wiki-like research tool, organized by country with original content and robust links on forty subject areas, structured around the principles of the 1979 Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). The Database also includes links to numerous primary research materials, including foreign laws enacted by countries that are members of the Library of Congress' Global Legal Information Network. IMPOWR will ultimately cover 185 countries, but it is very new, and the database is only partially complete. Also, users should keep in mind that because it is a wiki-like resource dependent upon voluntary contributions, the data in some sections are more robust than others.

Currently our most complete countries include Belize, Chile, Bangladesh, Pakistan and the United States. We encourage you to check back regularly for updates to the Database. IMPOWR also invites direct contributions to the Database by attorneys and other professionals knowledgeable in women's rights. Please feel free to register to make wiki contributions at www.impowr.org.
