LONDON (TrustMedia) – From nuclear threats and the security implications of climate change to cyberwarfare and the future of al-Qaeda after Osama Bin Laden’s death, security issues dominated a seminar for journalists hosted by Thomson Reuters Foundation, the Stanley Foundation and Gerda Henkel Stiftung.

Reporting on International Security and Terrorism, a three-day event in London, brought together reporters from 13 countries including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Russia, Lebanon, Ethiopia, Uganda and the United States. Participants rubbed shoulders with leading security experts and major players in counter-terrorism, nuclear disarmament, genocide prevention and non-violent protest.

The seminar wrapped up with a lively “Newsmaker” discussion titled “Facebook and People Power – The View from Tahrir Square”.

Speakers at the Newsmaker included Wael Ghonim, the Google marketing managing who emerged as one of the heroes of the Egyptian revolution; Sally Moore, a British-Egyptian psychiatrist who helped organise the protest movement; and Srdja Popovic, a Serbian non-violent activist who helped topple Slobodan Milosevic.

See our live blog of the seminar for detailed coverage or watch video interviews with many of the speakers:
