We are looking for Humanitarian Support Personnel Gender. 

 

What is a Humanitarian Support Personnel?

Oxfam has a large team of HSPs covering many disciplines who bring their skills and experience to Oxfam’s country teams to help them respond to conflicts and natural disasters. HSPs are globally roving and would expect to spend up to nine months a year in field programmes (pro-rata for part-time posts) and usually spend a minimum of three months on anyone deployment, many of our current emergency programmes are in Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

 

What will you be doing as an HSP Gender?


As an HSP Gender, You’ll respond effectively and rapidly to major emergencies anywhere in the world, and enable communities to become more resilient to future shocks and stresses.

Be accountable for ensuring community participation shapes programme decisions, actively seek a partnership approach and worked following feminist principles including a strong awareness of power dynamics.

To, along with other technical staff, advisors and managers, promote safe programming in all humanitarian responses. What we are looking for

 

Our next HSP Gender will require a graduate qualification in Gender, Social Sciences, Anthropology, or related disciplines, you’ll meet the academic requirements of the role. You’ll have first-hand experience of working with communities e.g in Community Development, and Gender, in at least one country other than your own. Ideally, some of this experience will have been in emergency response, you’ll also be confident in people management and capacity building, have strong communications skills and bring a collaborative approach to your work, along with sensitivity to cultural differences and the ability to work in a whole range of cultural contexts. Fluent written and spoken English and French is essential and knowledge of other additional language - Spanish and Arabic, is highly desirable
