This is a unique opportunity to develop your investigative and analytical skills looking at sustainability in a corporate context.

Companies are coming under increasing scrutiny and more effectively being held to account for their actions with enhanced access to a wealth of information on their respective sustainability strategies. Thorough research can uncover stories relating to the political, economic, social and environmental impacts of their work.

This intensive three-day workshop aims to provide journalists with the information, tools and strategies to understand the complexities of sustainability and enable them to better report through the lens of sustainability.

We are seeking applications from journalists with a minimum five years’ experience from a range of outlets and disciplines. Editors and freelancers are also encouraged to apply.

We are particularly keen to find participants based in Manila, where the course will take place.

  • Selected candidates (and who attend the full three-day course) will be invited to the UNGC-GRI Sustainability Summit on 20 August and to a round table discussion with reporters on 21 August
  • Candidates who successfully complete the full three-day course will receive a certificate of completion from the Thomson Reuters Foundation and the Global Reporting Initiative

Exploring Corporate Impact
  • TRF partners with Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) to offer you the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of why business should report on the sustainability of its strategy, operations and investments. The private sector plays a vital role in sustainable development and the media should explore the impact that business has, particularly when it comes to environmental, social and governance issues.
