Elise Perry

Legal Manager, Media Freedom


Elise joined Trustlaw in July 2021, and is responsible for developing the legal support available for journalists and media organisations as the Legal Manager for Media Freedoms. She was previously Legal Manager for the EMENA region.

Elise has eight years of experience working on criminal justice policy, international trade and development law gained from diverse environments including government, international organisations, not-for-profit, clinical practice and academia. Most recently, she served as a trade lawyer for the UK Government, advising the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy on cross-cutting WTO, international and treaty law issues, including those arising from the UK exiting the EU. Prior to this, Elise was a Global Justice Scholar at New York University and a consultant for the UN Development Programme building collaboration between UN agencies working on rule of law projects.

Elise is a qualified lawyer in Australia. She has a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts from the Australian National University, and a Masters of International Law from New York University.
