Job Details:
Organisation: Save the Children - International
Deadline Wed, 24 Dec 2014
Job type: Contract
Location:
Central African Republic
Save the Children is the world’s leading independent organisation for children. We work in 120 countries. We save children’s lives; we fight for their rights; we help them fulfil their potential.
We work together, with our partners, to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children and to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives.
We have over two million supporters worldwide and raised 1.9 billion dollars last year to reach more children than ever before, through programmes in health, nutrition, education, protection and child rights, also in times of humanitarian crises.
Following a major transition, our international programmes are now delivered through a merged operation with c15,000 staff, managed through seven regional hubs and reporting to a relatively small, central office. We’re changing to become more efficient, more aligned, a better partner, a stronger advocate, a magnet for world-class people and relevant for the 21st century.
Contract length: 12 months
The role
Under the supervision of the CAR Health and Nutrtion Technical Advisor, the Health Cluster Co-Lead works in close collaboration with the Health Cluster Lead organisation (WHO) to coordinate and plan all health-related humanitarian interventions in CAR. Key responsibilities consist of the organisation of Health Cluster meetings, joint sectorial and multi-sectorial assessments, as well as updating and implementing the health sector strategy.
The Health Cluster Co-Lead is responsible for representing Save the Children at the national and sub-national Clusters, for high-level coordination with government representatives and partners, including advocacy on universal access to healthcare and strengthening of the health and nutrition national systems.
Qualifications and experience
Essential
- Full medical degree and / or MA in Public Health
- Minimum of 6 years international experience working in emergency repsonse contexts or fragile states, with at least 3 years of experience in management and/or coordination of health programmes.

- Ability to work in both French and English (written and spoken)
Desirable
