Who are we?
DRC has been present in Central African Republic since end of 2007. In terms of operations, DRC is one of the largest INGOs in the Central African Republic, operating out of 4 Field offices in the North, 4 sub offices and the capital office (Bangui) and a complex funding portfolio. The program strategy for 2014 and 2015 covers the sectors of Camp Coordination and Camp Management, Emergency Response in sectors of WASH, NFI and Food distribution, Protection, Social Cohesion and Emergency Education, IDP profiling and protection monitoring as well as Food Security, Early Recovery and small scale infrastructure. Interventions are currently located in Four Prefectures: Ombella-Mpoko, Ouham, Ouham Pendé and Bamingui-Bangoran.

About the job

The Grants officer is responsible for ensuring the quality and the respect of donor guidelines and reporting, for the following, monitoring, evaluating and supporting the on-going projects in the mission and for implementing and ensuring the respect of accountability principles and for the respect of the Humanitarian Accountability Partnership (HAP) 

About  you
It is crucial to DRC that that the applicant is experienced, competent, proficient in French and in English and able to work in a difficult working environment. To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Solid experience in grant management and monitoring and evaluation
  • Significant understanding of complex emergencies and crisis contexts.
  • Strong experience in management of a complex project portfolio
  • Previous experience in emergencies.
  • Experience in administration, finance and personnel management, including training, supervision and coaching of staff.
  • Political, cultural and gender sensitivity and ability to communicate well with the local communities.
  • Proven communication, interpersonal, representation, negotiation and leadership skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.

 
Qualifications

  •  Degree in law, humanitarian action or social sciences
  • At least 2 years of experience in a humanitarian context
  • Experience with different donors (at least US, EU and UN donors)
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Fluency in English and French is a must
  • Abilities to solve problems and to focus on solutions instead issues
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and abilities to work in a multicultural environment
  • Knowledge in accountability and HAP issues is appreciated
  • Knowledge on CAR context and conflict / experience in CAR is appreciated
  • Demonstrated abilities  to work in a conflict, stressing context is appreciated
 
 

We offer

6 months Contract: with the possibility of extension.
Duty Station: Bangui, Central African Republic.
Starting date: As soon as possible.
