The Role
The purpose of this consultancy is to develop method of doing livelihood work in Syria.
The consultant to help developing a livelihood strategy; building internal capacity and planning for livelihood programming in Syria. The person will support livelihood scoping and assessments to explore both short-term and long-term livelihood solutions for our target groups. One of the expected outcomes of the support would be a clear plan for the short-term and medium term livelihood interventions. The consultant will also help in developing local teams for implementation on upcoming projects.
About the MECIS Syria country team
Oxfam is part of the Syria Humanitarian Assistance Response Plan through its Syria Country Program. Oxfam’s objective is to reduce the negative impact of the crisis and strengthen resilience of vulnerable conflict-affected people by improving their ability to meet immediate and basic needs, and engaging in livelihood initiatives.
Consultant profile
- A mix of emergency food security and vulnerable livelihoods and long-term/resilient livelihood program planning and implementation experience in the Middle East.
- Good understanding of livelihoods programming including advocacy and policy in Syria.
- Excellent facilitation and communication skills.
- Livelihood assessment and strategy development skills. Experience in developing strategies for program that are in transition from humanitarian to long-term development would be a plus.
- Eligible to smoothly enter and work in Syria.
- Working knowledge of Arabic will be desirable.
