About VSO
VSO is the world’s leading independent international development organisation that works through volunteers to fight poverty in developing countries. Our high-impact approach brings people together to share skills, build capabilities, promote international understanding and action to change lives and make the world a fairer place.

Role overview
For our current Social Inclusion and Governance Programme in Rwanda we are looking for skilled people to join us in our work on the rights of people with disabilities. You`ll work with health service providers and communities to increase awareness of and access to audiology services in Rwanda. You`ll train and mentor professionals already trained in audiology as well as increasing knowledge in communities, especially amongst parents, about prevention and mitigation of hearing loss. You`ll work with us and our partner to develop a model of good practice for the delivery of audiology services in Rwanda to help us contribute to the growth of this service nationally.

Skills, qualifications and experience required
You`ll have considerable and up to date professional experience in the field of audiology and be able to advise on the development and growth of services where resources are limited. You`ll be ambitious but realistic in what can be achieved and able to motivate others to seek and test new ways of working. You`ll have a history of training, mentoring and supervising others in their professional development and be able to train people with different levels of experience and ability. You`ll be able to work independently and plan your work with little supervision. You`ll be an enabler and facilitator of change, not determining the change itself.

How to apply

We’ll ask you to commit to 11 months to make a sustainable impact through your work. In return, we’ll give you comprehensive financial, personal and professional support. We`ll provide you with extensive training before your placement, and our financial package includes a local living allowance, return flights, accommodation, insurance and more. VSO in-country team and the network of other VSO volunteers will also support you throughout your placement. When you return to your home country, we`ll help you to resettle and many of our returned volunteers stay involved with us long after their placement ends.
