Liaises With:                                      CD, Health Coordinator, Area Coordinator; Ebola Coordinator/Managers, all programme and systems staff;

- Ebola Response Consortium partner organisations, Alliance 2015 (especially WHH), DHMT, TDC, Health NGOs, UN Agencies

 

- Other stakeholders as required by the project implementation

 

 

Job Purpose: The key focus of the Health Adviser is to provide advice and support to national and international staff on health related issues and technical support to the Infection Prevention and control team in Tonkolili, as well as manage and monitor training on Infection Prevention & Control at PHU level and Isolation/ Holding Centres.

 

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Technical      support to the IPC team in Tonkolili
  • Training on      Infection Prevention & Control at PHU level and Isolation/ Holding      Centres
  • Monitoring      of infection prevention and controls measure at 110 PHUs after the      training has been carried out
  • Health advice      and support to the national and international staff
  • Support  the roll out of infection prevention, screening and isolation training at 110 PHUs
  • Support the DHMT with the management of their contact tracing system
  • Liaise closely with the Ebola Manager who will be supporting the roll out of similar activities
  • Represent Concern at various fora as required
  • Promote      overall team development and interaction, demonstrating tolerance and      understanding
  • Liaise with      community representatives and civil society structures among the affected      populations.
  • Collates      M&E reports and brief status and progress updates Ensure      implementation is according to HAP standards
  • Ensure      adherence to Concern’s Programme Participants Protection Policy, and
  • Implement      Concern and donor visibility

 

 

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

 

 

Education & Qualifications Required:

 

Essential: Third level education, degree/ Masters in relevant discipline, such as Public Health/ Medicine/Nursing or related discipline

 

 

Experience Required:

 

Essential:

  • A minimum of 3 years field experience in managing health projects (preferably clinical management) in an emergency setting
  • Experience and capacity to negotiate with local authorities and contractors
  • Experience of collaboratively working with local groups, NGOs and UN Agencies
  • Demonstrated experience in community based interventions and participatory planning and training
  • Excellent coordination and reporting skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Solid knowledge of global standards and strategies related to infection prevention and control

  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work both independently, and as part of a team
  • Needs to have initiative and be able to work with minimal supervision
