Project Manager, DRC

Fixed Term – 9 months (Subject to funding)

The total salary package for this position is £39,384 - £42,972 GBP (approximately $59,300 - $64,700 USD) including basic salary, cost of living allowance and hardship allowance.

About the DRC programme:

MAG has been working in DRC since 2004 on a range of clearance activities, decreasing the risk posed by mines and unexploded ordnance. A key area of our work in DRC is focused on working with the DRC armed forces and police to improve the safe storage and management of weapons and munitions. The DRC programme also delivers risk education to local communities, to further reduce the threat of unexploded ordnance to local communities.

 

About the role:

MAG is seeking a Project Manager to oversee a new Weapons Marking project in the Kinshasa province of DRC, following a 3 month pilot project at the beginning of 2016. The Project Manager will be responsible for the management and delivery of the weapons marking project, working with the DRC armed forces to effectively secure weapons and munitions. Working under the direct supervision of MAG’s Technical Operations Manager, the Project Manager will liaise with and capacity build the DRC armed forces on a range of weapons marking activities.

 

About you:

Previous experience in the sector is not essential; however you should have experience in overseas project management within an international aid/humanitarian organisation. The successful candidate should have a background in working with local and regional authorities, preferably in complex environments. You will also need good negotiation and liaison skills as well as a diplomatic approach in getting time bound tasks completed. Fluent French language skills are essential for this post.
