About MAG:
MAG saves lives and builds futures by working with others to reclaim land contaminated with the debris of conflict, to reduce the daily risk of death or injury for civilians, and to create safe and secure conditions for development. MAG shared the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize as a founding member of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines for our work to ban landmines. Our vision is a safe and secure future for men, women and children affected by armed violence and conflict.

About the South Sudan Programme:
MAG has been working in South Sudan since 2004, working to clear landmines/unexploded ordnance and deliver mine risk education to at-risk populations. We are seeking to recruit a Country Director to lead our programme in South Sudan, who will have overall responsibility for the delivery of MAGs activities in-country.

About the role:
As Country Director, you will be based in Juba with travel to MAG’s operational bases as required. Reporting to the Regional Director at MAG HQ, you will have a wide range of responsibilities to ensure the effective integration of strategic, programmatic and operational management of the South Sudan programme. You will have the opportunity to use your skills in business development, managing a number of different projects and further developing MAG’s work and profile in the region.

About you:
As well as skills in people and project management, you will need previous experience working overseas in senior management roles in an international context, managing large scale projects, from project design through to monitoring and evaluation. Previous experience of being responsible for a programme in a challenging political, logistical and security environment would also be highly advantageous. You don’t need previous experience in mine action and we welcome applications from experienced managers from any development sector.
