We are looking for a committed and experienced individual to join us as Child Protection Technical Specialist. This role is hosted by Save the Children on behalf of the Assessment, Measurement & Evidence Working Group within the Alliance for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action.In this role, you will be responsible for implementing key aspects of the AME Working Group work-plan.

Our Humanitarian department integrates emergency and development work, through our country programmes. It increases our capacity to meet the assistance and protection needs of children and their families affected by crises. Together, we save children’s lives, fight for their rights and help them fulfil their potential.

As Child Protection Technical Specialist you willsupport the implementation of the assessment, measurement and evidence component of the work plan in both refugee and non-refugee contexts. Implementation efforts will focus on supporting use of the tools by field users and on systematically gathering feedback on the tools to inform reviews and identify gaps. In addition you will:

  • Support field-based practitioners to use CPiE assessment, measurement and monitoring tools, including the development of resources for field practitioners on relevant measurement and monitoring issues
  • Develop a process to receive continuous feedback on the use of tools in consultation with the Child Protection Area of Responsibility and UNHCR, which will be embedded into assessment, measurement and monitoring processes
  • Review major tools and develop key indicators, including a review of the Child Protection Rapid Assessment to reflect feedback and lessons learned from its use and adaptation for refugee contexts
  • Support capacity building initiatives on assessment, measurement and monitoring at national, regional and global levels
  • Review additional tools to ensure they reflect the Alliance’s mandate to address both refugee and non-refugee situations.

To be successful you will have a proven track record of successfully managing interagency projects with multiple stakeholders and be educated to MSc/MA level in a relevant subject or have equivalent field experience. Self-driven and able to motivate others, you will have substantial experience of working globally in an INGO environment in the field of Child Protection including operational experience at a country level that demonstrates strong Monitoring and Evaluation skills and experience of successfully carrying out assessments. In addition you will have:

  • An understanding of humanitarian aid architecture
  • Good situational agility skills with a high degree of flexibility and adaptability in order to respond to changing needs
  • Strong skills in the usage of Microsoft packages, including Word, Excel, project management tools and other financial systems
  • Excellent English, both oral and in writing. Working proficiency in either English or Arabic
  • Comprehensive experience and proven track record in grant management and donor compliance.
