The role
The Case Management specialist will provide overall technical guidance and support to Save the Children staff and partners in the effective provision of case management services, and training for other agencies as relevant and feasible. The case management specialist will help ensure that Save the Children’s case management services are well integrated within the GoSL national case management system, and will provide technical inputs on behalf of Save the Children to the establishment and rollout of the CP-IMS nationwide through participation in the technical leadership group for the CP-IMS. The case management specialist will work within the Child Protection thematic sector, but collaborate with other sectors as relevant and required.


Qualifications and experience

Essential

  • Advanced University degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or any other relevant field.
  • Substantive professional experience in the establishment of basic case management services, principles, and protocols in emergency or post-emergency contexts, and/or in developing countries.
  • Minimum 6 years of progressively responsible professional work experience with INGOs, UN agencies, private sectors at national/international levels in strengthening Child Protection systems in post-emergency or development contexts.
  • Substantial experience in child-focused or family-focused programming in developing countries.
  • Previous experience in the provision of training, technical support and mentoring of national organizations and staff, as well as with government counterparts.
  • Knowledge of key international standards and guidelines related to alternative care for children and case management.
  • Ability to communicate concepts and ideas effectively orally and in writing including formal public speaking, to work in a team and independently, and to adopt consultative approaches including soliciting inputs of children.
  • A high level of written and spoken English
  • Excellent IT skills (word, excel, some experience with databases)
  • Must be flexible to live and work in difficult environments with minimal infrastructure or resources.
  • Commitment to the aims and principles of Save the Children. In particular, a good understanding of the Save the Children mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support

Desirable

  • Experience in West Africa region
  • Previous knowledge or experience with the CP IMS
