About the South Sudan programme:

South Sudan is one of the youngest, poorest and least developed countries worldwide. MAG has been successfully working in South Sudan since 2004, to clear landmines/unexploded ordnance and deliver mine risk education to at-risk populations in a constantly challenging environment.

 

About the role:

The post-holder will lead a team to plan and deliver effective and timely maintenance, servicing and repairs to over 80 MAG vehicles/generators located across South Sudan. Responsible for the performance of a team of locally recruited mechanics and drivers. The postholder will take responsibility for the training of both mechanics and drivers in order to strengthen capacity and reduce costs. Understanding the context of South Sudan and vehicle maintenance within this context is essential to be effective in this role

 

About you:

You must be a qualified mechanic with significant experience of proactively managing and repairing a large fleet of vehicles.  A background in fleet management is essential; as is the ability to supervise and develop others at the same time, ensuring high quality standards are maintained.  In addition the successful candidate will ideally have experience of working in Africa, with exposure to Humanitarian Mine Action, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
