The Position:

We are seeking a Financial Controller who will be responsible for all aspects of the Foundations Financial Accounting, Audits, Balance Sheet Accounting and Program Accounting. The role will support the Foundation’s Program Directors and Managers and report to the Finance Director of the Foundation.   

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the preparation of the Thomson Reuters Foundation ( TRF) Group and TRF INC ( US Entity) statutory accounts including leading on Statutory and Grant audit/s.
  • Producing monthly management accounts for projects and programs including variance analysis. 
  • Meet monthly with relevant Program managers / budget holders to review financial performance and provide coaching and active support regarding financial processes and concepts as required.
  • Responsible for external Donor reporting on specific Projects and Programs in collaboration with Directors and Head Monitoring & Evaluation ( inc preparation of information for grant audits and assist in providing responses to questions from the external auditors).
  • Supporting the establishment of new programs and other legal entities globally, working with the Finance Director and relevant colleagues in the UK, regions and countries ensuring appropriate control and compliance frameworks in place.
  • Responds to financial inquiries by gathering, analyzing, summarizing, and interpreting data.
  • Supports the Finance Director in preparing budgets and Board Reporting. 
  • Other ad-hoc responsibilities as required        

 Qualifications

Essential Experience: 

  • Qualified Accountant
  • Extensive experience in producing Statutory Accounts (preferably for a Charity) and leading on all aspects of audit in a complex organization , 
  • Experienced in management information reporting – Essential 
  • Experienced in Program Accounting and Donor Reporting.
  • Financial control and compliance  
  • Comprehensive Excel Skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; proven ability to relate to all levels of management and both finance and non-finance staff.
  • etail-oriented with excellent analytical, quantitative and investigative skills; ability to present complex data in a simplified and meaningful way.

  Desired Skills: 

  • Highly motivated with ability to work independently or in a team environment and drive results; a self-starter and able to work with changing priorities and time pressures.
  • Experience with SAP / BEX 
  • Bachelor Degree
