Job Details:
Organisation: CDAC Network
Deadline Mon, 4 Aug 2014
Job type: Contract
Location:
United Kingdom
Three-year Fixed Term Contract
The Communicating with Disaster Affected Communities (CDAC) Network is a unique collaboration between humanitarian and media development organisations and technology providers. CDAC Network members are committed to integrating two way communication approaches into emergency preparedness, response and recovery.
World Vision is the world’s largest international children’s charity and a member of the CDAC Network. Every day World Vision brings hope to millions of children in the world’s hardest places. World Visions’s aim is simple – to keep every child free from fear. It is also proud to be voted one of the Top 100 ‘Best Not-For-Profit Organisations to Work For 2014’.
World Vision is hosting a new grant on behalf of the CDAC Network: the DFID Disasters and Emergencies Preparedness Programme (DEPP) grant.
As DEPP Programme Manager you will be hosted in World Vision’s Humanitarian and Resilience Team, co-located with the CDAC Network Secretariat. You will manage the three year DFID DEPP grant which aims to strengthen local level capacity in communicating with crisis affected communities. You will play a lead role in managing the relationship with Network partner agencies as well as representing the programme with external stakeholders. Your remit will involve managing the implementation of the grant programme, working with partner agencies to ensure objectives are completed within timeframe and budget, managing risks, as well as important evidence gathering to ensure results and impact.
To deliver the multi-country grant, you will be working closely with two Country Working Groups as they facilitate coordination between agencies and implement the programme objectives. Working with the host agencies in each country you will oversee financial and administration management of the programme to ensure full compliance with donor regulations.
Passion and an excellent understanding of the humanitarian sector (with a strong focus on field experience) and strong, previous management experience are essential qualities for this role. You will have a strong understanding of communication with communities in emergencies and practical experience in this area is highly desired.
An effective project manager with experience of dealing with complex grant programme management and working in consortia or networks, you will need to deal assertively yet diplomatically with partners and cross-cultural environments. For this you will need excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to demonstrate strong leadership and outstanding team spirit and performance.
Due to the nature of the role, there will be a need for you to travel, often to fragile states and countries affected by conflict, for up to 30% of your time in order for monitoring and external engagement.
This is an amazing opportunity and one where you can utilise your skills where they really matter. In addition to the salary shown, you can expect a good range of benefits.
If you believe you have the skillset, we’d like to hear from you.
