Job Purpose:Technical support of Concern Sudan’s FIM programme in West Darfur, focusing on programme strategy, quality and learning.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Take lead role in the ongoing development of Concern Sudan FIM programme including in the design of strategy for Sudan in general and West Darfur in particular, working in conjunction with the wider resilience programme and relevant sectors, such as health.
  • Provide robust support to the National FIM Advisor in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Concern FIM programme, and partner organizations.
  • Design a comprehensive capacity building strategy for FIM staff and partners engaged in FIM related activities.
  • Facilitate and coordinate trainings for the FIM and partner’s staff as well as other members of the Programme Support Unit.
  • Strengthen, and where necessary design and roll out continuous improvements in programme quality, including transitioning from humanitarian action to relief and longer term development interventions.
  • Facilitate trainings for Concern and partners FIM staff and mentor the National FIM Advisor.
  • Lead in conducting FIM baselines, assessments, including market surveys, value chain studies and stakeholders’ analysis.
  • Provide support and guidance on budget development and monitoring of expenditure to budget holders with reference to livelihood budgets
  • Provide advice and support for the development of project management skills to programme staff related to livelihoods work.
  • Ensure consistency of strategy & common objectives between programmes, partners and donors.
  • Support the National FIM Advisor to prepare regular project progress reports as required for donors and other internal and external bodies.
  • Liaise and coordinate with other relevant stakeholders in interagency planning and implementing livelihood development interventions including attendance of all relevant coordination meetings, as directed by ACD Darfur and /or the Country Director.
  • Ensure that HIV & AIDS, equality and disaster risk reduction (DRR) are factored into programme design and delivery, reviews and evaluations
  • Play an active role in the the Programme Support Unit, contributing to the overall programme strategy.
  • To participate in any emergency response carried out by Concern country programme as directed by the line manager
  • Support Concern’s South Kordofan FIM programme, as workload allows.
  • Participate and      contribute to the FIM programme proposal development
  • Provide technical      support to the FIM programme team on an ongoing basis with regular visits      to the projects sites to address progress and assist field staff as      required.

 

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential:

  • Relevant third level qualification– preferably with strong emphasis on FIM issue (e.g. Farm and Off Farm income generation activities, micro finance, agricultural development).
  • 2 years progressive experience in Livelihoods/ FIM projects.
  • Previous overseas experience of FIM programs in conflict/post conflict situations.
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Proven history of producing detailed analysis of livelihoods data.
  • Knowledge of participatory methods and data collection methodologies.
  • Experience in capacity building of national staff and partner organisations.
  • Familiarity with humanitarian law and principles of humanitarian action (international code of conduct and humanitarian charter).

 

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with SPHERE guidelines and People in Aid Code of best practice.
  • Knowledge of the Humanitarian Accountability Partnership, and its benchmarks.
  • Experience in Food Security.
  • Experience in digital data gathering.
  • Report and proposal writing.
  • IT skills.
