The position

We are seeking a talented, high energy journalist, savvy with online production and social media to work on the Foundation’s London news desk, helping to cover breaking news stories on human rights, rule of law and climate change. If you are excited about working in a multi-media environment for an international news organization that focuses on under-reported humanitarian stories and you want to have impact as a journalist, this is the job for you.

Responsibilities:

  • Report breaking news stories on human rights, governance and corruption, women’s rights, climate change, the aid industry and development to tight deadlines
  • Production of the trust.org news pages, including story selection, adding photographs and related material, creating thematic story packages
  • Tap social media to generate story leads and promote work of the Thomson Reuters Foundation
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills:

  • Highly inquisitive, passionate about news and strong interest in human rights and development policy
  • Strong writing skills essentials, at least three years of professional reporting experience required
  • Savvy in social media techniques
  • Some online production experience preferred; meticulous and organised
  • University degree
