Oxfam GB’s work in Sierra Leone is along a spectrum that includes direct humanitarian intervention, long-term development work and leverage, advocacy and campaigns.  We seek to integrate these components into a ‘one programme approach’ to maximise impact and ensure the most vulnerable households and communities can build up their resilience to withstand recurrent shocks and stresses.  This post will be responsible for continuing to develop a single country programme with strong synergies between the different elements.

Your role

You will be responsible for continuing to develop and implement a country programme with strong synergies and to deliver transformational changes through building and managing effective programme teams and providing an oversight on humanitarian and development programme implementation to ensure a well integrated programme approach aiming at building up resilience of the most vulnerable communities and households in Sierra Leone

What we’re looking for

Experience in the management of emergency and development programmes is essential, as is a strong understanding of the importance of mainstreaming gender into programmes. You will excel in leading and working in teams and will confidently engages with external partners, donors, and funders. Your exceptional communication and negotiating skills in English are a pre-requirement. You’re good at setting and adjusting priorities, achieving results, managing concurrent projects and conflicting demands, and meeting deadlines as well as working independently. A good influencer and negotiator, you’re able to think and act strategically and creatively, plan, organize and lead.

You should also have knowledge of the West Africa region in terms of its political, economic, social and cultural processes plus a good understanding of key development and rights issues.
