The Director of Housing Finance and Market Development leads the work of Habitat for Humanity in Asia Pacific to expand the market for affordable housing products and services, leading a team that works with the private sector, including social enterprises, promoting housing solutions through access to capital and advisory services. This role will require 40% travel within the Asia Pacific region and will be based at HFHI’s Asia Pacific regional office in Manila, Philippines.
Responsibilities:
1. Lead sustainability strategy for Market Development at regional and select country levels and provide guidance to Country Programs in the development of market development strategy and alignment with regional and HQ strategies and priorities
2. Supervise, mentor and support the Market Development team in Asia-Pacific to successfully execute activities that support the Affordable Housing markets in India, Indonesia, Philippines, Cambodia, Sri Lanka
3. Expand support among internal and external stakeholders for a Market Development approach to engaging the private sector in affordable housing, including: regional and national HFH leadership, important customers, financiers, donors and others
4. Provide leadership to efforts to mobilize capital in Asia for innovation and expansion in the housing sector; including Micro Build Fund, wholesale lending and financial partnerships
6. Consolidate global models and learning to develop, refine and standardize HFHI best practices. Work with other departments within the Asia Pacific Office to implement systems and manage organizational reputation and financial risks associated with borrowing and partnerships
Minimum Requirements:
• 5+ years of relevant work experience – preferably in Asia
• Bachelor’s degree in a related area
• Demonstrated experience in international affordable housing and in one or more segments of the affordable housing value chain such as housing finance, construction materials, land tenure, etc.
• Demonstrated knowledge of social enterprise, social investment and other private sector methods to reach communities
• Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, organizational development, and program implementation
