We are looking for an experienced Senior Portfolio Officer to join our Asia Regional Portfolio Team, responsible for the Asia portfolio. In conjunction with Country Offices, you will lead on the timely creation of proposals, contracts and reports in support of quality delivery of the end to end grant cycle.

As Senior Portfolio Officer you will contribute to the development of new business practices and tools to streamline processes and improve quality and efficiency of work. You will also contribute to the overall account portfolio targets, working closely with the Regional Partnership Manager and Head of the Regional Portfolio Team. In addition you will:

  • Develop and maintain key donor relationships for selected countries
  • Serve as the key donor focal point for HQ level SCUK home donors on specific country portfolios
  • Assume overall project management from point of contract signature, working with internal departments to support reporting
  • Develop strong knowledge base of in-country context and current issues in relation to delivery and operating platform in particular
  • Lead on monitoring internal processes and procedures, ensuring they are fit for purpose and recommending changes to the Head of Regional Portfolio as appropriate
  • Provide day to day line management support to at least two team members.

To be successful you will have extensive experience in project and grant/contract management with an in-depth knowledge of institutional donor compliance requirements. You should also have significant financial process and reporting skills. In addition, you will have:

  • Strong relationship development skills, particularly at a distance
  • Good working knowledge of the Asia region and understanding of context and operating environment issues
  • Experience of proposal development and report writing, particularly in reference to DfID EuropeAid, ECHO and / or UNICEF
  • Experience in management of large and complex grants
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to forge strong relationships quickly
  • Significant experience of working in the international development sector, including in overseas roles
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Previous line management experience.
