The role

This role supports health programme and logistics functions for CAR programme, under the general supervision of the Health Advisor and Logistics Manager, with key responsibility for the implementation of SC logistics policies and procedures at field level in co-ordination with the field teams. The roving medical logistician also has responsibility for on-the-job training and mentoring of field pharmacists and logistics officers, on medical logistics procedures. This role will be focused and pharmaceutical issues and build the capacity of the pharmacist in the field and ensure the proper monitoring of consumption and stock management.



Qualifications and experience

Essential

  • Prior experience in medical logistics and procurement management in the NGO’s sector, within complex/large scale country programmes and in emergency response/humanitarian environments
  • Completed medical logistics certificate with Fritz Institute or equivalent.
  • Substantial experience in technical areas of logistics operations particularly procurement, transport/distribution, warehousing and stock management, security
  • Experience in managing drug supply chain, storage, analysis of health team consumption reports
  • Experience of working in remote field bases with limited infrastructure
  • Proven track-record of supervising others (logistic & health team), including on-the-job training and capacity building on pharmaceutical management
  • Ability to synthesis and analyse complex information, and make clear, informed decisions
  • Ability to build relationships quickly with a wide range of people, both internally and externally
  • Strong planning, management and coordination skills, with the ability to organise a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks and responsibilities in a remote field management context

Desirable

  • Technical experience/knowledge in specific types of humanitarian intervention, especially in Health, Nutrition and/or HIV programming
