Contract length: 12 months
The role
The Analyst will be a master of intelligence in the area of geopolitics. As a member of the operations team they will research and produce reports on geopolitical, humanitarian and development issues, and analysing long and short-term challenges for SCI Humanitarian Response in East and Southern Africa region. The Analyst will also prepare compelling briefs and written analyses on command.
Qualifications and experience
- Master’s degree in international relations, political science, journalism, sociology or equivalent through experience.
- Experience in political analysis and conflict prevention.
- Three to five years professional experience in government, academia, international organisations, NGOs or journalism.
- Excellent writing, editing and analytical skills and ability to formulate well-targeted policy recommendations.
- Written and spoken fluency in English and French, proficiency in Arab and a fourth language is an asset.
- Good knowledge of international humanitarian systems, institutions and donors.
- Ability to work in a matrix management environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including good public presentation skills, and a very strong capacity for effective teamwork.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and often demanding environment.

- Models humanitarian best practices, and the leadership behaviours outlined in Save the Children’s key humanitarian guidance document
- Ability and willingness to change work practices and hours in the event of major emergencies including travelling at short notice and for extended periods of time.
