TrustLaw

TrustLaw is the Thomson Reuters Foundation’s global pro bono legal program. Our mission is to spread the practice of pro bono worldwide to drive social change. We help high-impact NGOs and social enterprises to grow, streamline their operations and navigate complex laws and regulations by connecting them with free legal assistance from the best law firms around the world. We also deliver groundbreaking legal research on key social and policy issues that our members use to support their advocacy and law reform efforts.

Launched in 2010, TrustLaw has grown to include over 3,400 members in 170 countries, including over 600 law firms and in-house legal teams and over 2,700 NGO and social enterprise members.

The Foundation is recruiting a Programme Officer - Asia, TrustLaw. The position would be based in Mumbai (in Thomson Reuters’ Peninsula Corporate Park office in Lower Parel) and would provide regional support to the TrustLaw team across Asia (based in Mumbai, Bangkok and Hong Kong).

Responsibilities

This will include:

  • Supporting TrustLaw’s team across Asia to manage the regional network of law firms, corporations, referral partners, NGOs, social enterprises and other key stakeholders.
  • Interacting with clients to respond to queries about projects, log offers of assistance, manage our online system and collect feedback.
  • Providing support to the team to process applications from NGOs and social enterprises by vetting the organisations, verifying documents and speaking with the organisations to ensure they comply with TrustLaw’s criteria.
  • Support regional travel and events by: identifying potential members for recruitment; researching key legal issues; and planning events and workshops.
  • Supporting the team to manage regional communications including regional newsletters; publication of reports, promotion of events and social media.
  • Being the “knowledge expert” in the region to support the team to manage our systems including Salesforce, Survey Gizmo and CMS.

Key skills and experience

  • Experience in the charity, NGO or social enterprise sector and an understanding of how it operates at local, regional and international levels. Understanding and interest in social and policy issues.
  • Proven organizational and project management skills and experience of managing competing priorities in a fast paced environment.
  • Experience working with a diverse range of stakeholders across countries. This position requires you to speak with major law firms, NGOs, social enterprises across Asia.
  • Experience conducting due diligence, monitoring the effectiveness and impact of NGOs and social enterprises.
  • An exceptional communicator with strong writing and communication skills
    A creative quick thinker who is also a highly motivated self-starter, with an ability to work independently and contribute ideas to the team.
  • Experience in Salesforce highly desirable.
  • Fluent in English, other languages highly desirable.
  • A degree, preferably in the field of social change, policy management, development or law
  • A willingness to travel internationally.
