“It’s devastating for the entire team at the Foundation to know that Nazanin’s health has deteriorated very significantly with back and neck pain so strong that she has been authorized a visit with a specialist outside the Evin prison. We hope that the Prosecutor’s Office will authorize her hospitalization as soon as possible.
Her health has got worse recently both physically and mentally. Her husband says that she is so weak and feels so sick that she cried non-stop when he spoke to her on the phone last Saturday. This breaks our hearts.
Personally, I am particularly concerned by her psychological wellbeing, and the fact that she is now suffering from panic attacks that keep her awake at night and obviously in a state of deep pain and depression. This is not the Nazanin we all know.
It’s now been almost ten months since she has been arrested and her two-year-old daughter Gabriella is still with her grandparents in Iran, far from her father in London, and allowed to meet her mother from time to time, only in jail.
This is an ongoing tragedy taking a heavy toll on the life of an innocent person and her entire family. I would be incredibly grateful if the Iranian authorities would act with compassion."
