This role will promote CARE’s work and brand in the media, secure coverage of CARE initiatives in U.S. news outlets and build relationships with journalists who keep the public informed about issues related to fighting poverty. At times, s(he) will act as a spokesperson for CARE. The position will be responsible for preparing CARE staff for media interviews, tracking CARE’s media coverage and analyzing that coverage to generate future opportunities. S(he) will help develop, manage and/or execute communications strategies that support CARE’s signature issues, advocacy priorities and fundraising goals. Effective performance will safeguard CARE’s reputation and lift the organization’s brand.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5-10 years experience in communications, journalism and/or public relations
  • Excellent, proven writing capabilities
  • Strong english language oral communications skills
  • Ability to multi-task, work quickly and efficiently under pressure and deadlines
  • Solid understanding of news media and public relations
  • Good presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in teams
  • Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint
