Hana Farhat

Senior Programme Officer, EMENA

Hana joined the Thomson Reuters Foundation in November 2021, as a Programme Officer for the EMENA region. She manages our NGO and Social Enterprise members across the EMENA region and supports with the facilitation of pro bono legal assistance.

Hana is a researcher and advocate for human rights with experience in international law, education and advocacy in the Middle East and the UK. She was previously based in Beirut, where she worked on gender equality issues at the Women Human Rights Defenders Coalition and the Centre for Women at the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia, focusing on the Women, Peace and Security Agenda. In the UK, she has most recently been working in education and, prior to this, was a refugee resettlement caseworker.

Hana holds an Master’s degree in Human Rights from UCL, University of London and a Bachelor degree in History from Queen Mary University.
