Fahreen Alibhai Bid

Legal Programme Manager, Africa

Fahreen is the Legal Programme Manager for Africa, overseeing and managing TrustLaw's programme in Sub-Saharan Africa with NGOs, social enterprises and lawyers working or interested in the continent. She facilitates pro bono legal assistance for TrustLaw's members and supports various research programmes on a cross-section of uniquely African and transregional issues such as health rights, sustainability and climate change, human trafficking, women's rights, land rights and legal reform.

Fahreen has expertise in commercial and property law, with experience both in private practice and the non-profit sector. Before joining the Foundation, she consulted for AppletonLuff, an international boutique law firm, and the International Law Institute both based in Kampala. Prior to this she worked at Walker Kontos Associates, a leading law firm in Kenya, where she advised clients on corporate and property matters. Fahreen also gained experience in the non-profit sector, working at TechnoServe in Nairobi and The Jane Goodall Institute in Washington DC.

Fahreen is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. She holds a law degree (LLB) from the University of Nottingham and a B.A. in Environmental Science and Policy with a minor in Economics from Clark University, in the United States.
