Social entrepreneurship has grown significantly across Southeast Asia in recent years. We have seen the emergence of social entrepreneurs, who have stepped up to develop financially self-sustaining solutions to address social and environmental challenges in their communities. This rare breed of leader operates across the public, private and third sectors and balances the imperative of creating social impact with the need for financial sustainability.

In partnership, British Council, Tilleke and Gibbins, the Thomson Reuters Foundation and United Nations ESCAP are proud to launch the ASEAN Social Enterprise Structuring Guide – a practical resource to guide social entrepreneurs on the most appropriate legal structure to enable them to deliver impact in social enterprise. The guide sets out in detail the advantages and disadvantages and associated regulatory and compliance obligations of each available structure in Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.

The event will consist of a dynamic panel conversation on the opportunities and challenges for social entrepreneurs in Southeast Asia, including an overview of the social enterprise ecosystems, recent legal changes and work being done to encourage legal reform. The panel will share lessons learned and help the audience identify practical takeaways and valuable resources for social enterprises operating in the region.

Registration for this event has now closed. If you wish to be added to the waiting list please email: Bethany.Rose@thomsonreuters.com.
