Impact Award

This Award recognises an outstanding legal research project that has led to demonstrable change and significant outcomes.

  • Refugee Rights Through A Lens

    Through TrustLaw, the Refugee Council, a charity that works with refugees and people seeking asylum in the UK, received legal advice from Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP on use of body cameras by Welfare Officers in refugee accommodation.

    Family reunification for unaccompanied refugee children is an important issue for Save the Children UK. TrustLaw connected Save the Children UK with Latham & Watkins who conducted this research and identified best practices.

    TrustLaw connected RHF ( Rape Hurts Foundation) with Onyango & Company Advocates for legal assistance in drafting a children’s protection which created a ripple effect of impact throughout their community.

Innovation Award

This new Award recognises an NGO or social enterprise that has used pro bono legal advice to scale up their operations, improve the delivery of their social mission or pivot their activities to make a greater impact on the businesses and people they support.

  • Empowering the visually impaired through speech synthesizers

    F123, a social enterprise based in Brazil, is developing a new speech synthesizer for the blind. TrustLaw connected F123 with Koury Lopes Advogados (KLA) for legal assistance on intellectual property rights.

  • Tackling social problems through impact bonds

    Social Finance a non-profit organisation that seeks better ways of tackling social problems in the UK, sought legal advice on a development impact bond they intended to establish. TrustLaw facilitated this assistance request by connecting Social Finance with Dechert.

  • “Know your rights”: Training Migrants and Refugees in Thailand

    Through TrustLaw,the IRC received legal assistance from the international law firm DLA Piper to research the rights of these refugees and migrant workers and prepare resources and training materials.

  • Global Law firms and 28 Too Many work together to end FGM

    TrustLaw connected 28 Too Many to seven law firms, led by Latham & Watkins, to lead a critical examination of the best and worst practices that will contribute to the global elimination of FGM/C.

  • Advocating for Supply Chain Transparency in Canada

    World Vision Canada leads a growing coalition of partners on supply chain transparency in Canada. Through TrustLaw, the global law firm Dentons was connected with World Vision Canada to conduct research on Canadian legislation on supply chains.
