The Thomson Reuters Foundation in partnership with CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang LLP and the Dentsu Aegis Network have published a legal guide to assist social enterprises and NGOs in complying with new data protection requirements introduced by the recently implemented General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The GDPR came into force on 25 May 2018 and imposes significant new obligations in relation to the processing of personal data of EU data subjects. Social enterprises and NGOs may need to amend their existing data protection policies and procedures or adopt new ones to ensure compliance with the new law and to avoid penalties.

This guide outlines the key requirements of the GDPR and offers practical tips from experienced lawyers on how social enterprises and NGOs can take steps to ensure their organisations' full compliance with the new regulations.
